Quotes of the Week
Every week this section of the website will offer new Zen quotes that bear directly on the bar exam experience. Specifically, the Zen quotes are offered to provide guidance on the issues of studying, your mental outlook/stress, and the bar exam journey in general. Most of the quotes will be self-explanatory, but on occasion I will elaborate upon the meaning of the quote (and its relation to the bar exam) in more depth. The timing of the quotes are meant to coincide with the progression toward the bar exam dates and will be posted every Monday morning during the eleven week lead up to the exam. I hope you enjoy your bar exam Zen.
See value in what is,
usefulness in what is not.
On your mental outlook/stress:
allow yourself to feel
the pain in the moment.
Go with it for as long as it lasts,
and then allow it to dissolve away.
Pain is merely a state of mind, rather
than a situation. Every situation is neutral.
Darkness within darkness
the gateway to all understanding.
– Lao Tzu
If you lose the
spirit of repetition, your
practice will become quite difficult.
– Zen Master Shunryu Suzuki
